HiPath Xpressions Windows 2003 Windows 2008

OpenScape Xpressions V6.0 Web Client and Extensions

I am very glad that finally, five month after Cycos released MRS 8.0, Siemens managed to release the new OpenScape Xpressions v6.0 R0. I downloaded the new version yesterday and set it up quickly. The Voicemail / Unified Messaging part did not change much from Xpressions v5.0, the feature set is still the same and so is the installer.

New are some add-on features such as:

Web Conferencing

Voice Conferencing

Instant Messanging

Presence Profiles

Web Client

The first video will demonstrate you the new Web Client and Audio Conferencing! Unfortunately I only have a HiPath 3000 and no Dialogic card, so I cannot install SIP Control for the SIP Trunk that is required for the Audio Conferencing.

The other video will show you the new OpenScape Xpressions Extensions, the new CTI extensions for OpenScape Xpressions v6.0. The main focus is on Prensence and Instant Messaging.

*** UPDATE *** I have added a new video showing the Outlook Extensions, to schedule Web and Voice Conferences.

If there are any questions about the application feel free to contact me!

sipX version 3.10 released

A bit late but I was busy doing some work on mt OCS installation. For this Friday there is a customer demo planned with MS Exchange 2007, OCS 2007 connected to a HiPath 3800 via a sipX gateway and the ESTOS Call Control Gateway.

At least I finally got it kind of installed and just found that there is a new sipX release. The major changes are as below:

  • New and improved look & feel (skin) and new project logo
  • Automatic device discovery
  • Personal auto-attendant for every user on the sytem
  • Integration with Microsoft Active Directory and Exchange 2007
  • Schedule based find-me / follow-me functionality for every individual user, user self-configurable
  • Enhancements and extensions to the Call Center ACD server
  • New plug & play devices: Additional Polycom phones and new firmware, Linksys, IpDialog, Nortel video phone
  • Updated support for plug & play management of Polycom, LG-Nortel, Audiocodes, and Snom phones

TCP / UDP traffic router sipX

Last week I spend about 10 hours installing my unified-communications.local domain. It is a Windows 2003 Server Domain containing five servers: Domain Controller with Sub C, Exchange 2007 Server, OCS 2007 Standard Server, OCS 2007 Edge Server and an OCS 2007 Mediation Server.

I tried to network the Microsoft UC applications to our HiPath Open Communications platforms directly but we still have the same issue as in the past with Beta 2 of Exchange 2007. Microsoft expects our signalling and payload in TCP instead of UDP. Siemens HiPath operates according the SIP standard on UDP RFC 3261. So I was looking for a way besides the eicon Call Control software and a hardware based QSIG – SIP router.

And I found it in the open source application sipX

It is a fully blown SIP PBX that operates on both UDP and TCP and can be configured as middle ware application. One leg connected to the HiPath STMI2 card and the other to the Exchange 2007 UM role / OCS 2007 server.

Currently I have some postgreSQL issues with my box but as soon I get them resolved you can expect a complete step by step guide on setting this up.
